| OFS RS-232 Data Collection |
 | The most effective tool in determining how the OFS is performing is by examining the RS-232 data output. A PC can be connected directly to the J2 connector at the control box. |
| Basic Requirements: |
| 1. | Personal Computer |
| 2. | Null Modem Cable |
| 3. | Communication Software (QCS, HyperTerminal, ProComm, etc.) |
| | If you use Optical Scientific's QCS Software, just connect the cable and follow the screen prompts. |

Click Start Point to All Programs Point to Accessories Point to Communications Click HyperTerminal
Note: This practice is not a substitute for SQC or data logging software. |

| Once you are connected, start HyperTerminal and click on the icon you created. That will open the COM port. Type "C" (upper case) and hit <enter>.You will receive an output data string from the unit. POLL CHARACTERS ARE CASE SENSITIVE - USE UPPER CASE |

| For every data output line you will have to enter a "C" character. Recommended interval = 1 minute. Remember, the purpose of the data collection in this case is for problem analysis. Proper analysis may require several hours of data over and above the minimum hour's worth, so plan accordingly. Although this procedure is effective, it can be time consuming.
