Anemometers and Air Flow Meters for Accurate Measurements

Optical Scientific's anemometers and air flow meters use patented optical scintillation technology to deliver non-intrusive, drift-free velocity and flow measurements across industrial stacks, flare systems, atmospheric environments, and aluminum smelters. Designed for harsh conditions, these sensors require no field calibration and achieve ±2% accuracy for EPA compliance and process control.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you measure air flow with an anemometer?

An anemometer measures airflow by detecting velocity across a defined path. OSI's optical anemometers use optical scintillation technology, transmitting an infrared beam across a stack or atmospheric path. Fluctuations in the received signal caused by moving air are analyzed by a DSP-based algorithm to calculate path-averaged velocity. This non-intrusive method requires no physical contact with the gas stream and causes no pressure drop.
