Optical scintillation technology measures the fluctuation of an infrared light beam transmitted across a stack or duct. Turbulence in the gas flow causes characteristic scintillation patterns that a patented DSP-based algorithm converts into accurate velocity readings. This approach requires no physical contact with the gas stream, no moving parts, and is unaffected by temperature, pressure, opacity, or gas composition changes.

The OFS-2000, OFS-2000F, and OFS-2000W models are all designed for EPA 40 CFR Part 75 compliance for stack gas flow monitoring at power plants and other regulated facilities. The LOA-105 carries EPA Method 14 Equivalency Approval for aluminum smelter roof vent airflow measurement. All models use NIST-certified algorithms.

Yes. The OFS-2000W is specifically engineered for wet scrubbers, bag houses, and high-opacity applications. It incorporates Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to compensate for signal variations caused by particulate matter, moisture, and entrained liquid droplets. All OFS sensors are inherently unaffected by opacity, temperature, pressure, and gas density changes.

The OFS-2000 measures 0–100 m/sec with ±2% accuracy. The OFS-2000F, designed for flare stacks with very low-flow conditions, covers an extended range of 0.03–170 m/sec at the same ±2% accuracy. Both models use ANSI 4-inch pipe flange mounting and require only 2 upstream and 1 downstream pipe diameters of straight run.
