Large Aperture Scintillometers from Optical Scientific, Inc. use advanced optical scintillation technology to measure path-averaged crosswind velocity and Cn² air turbulence over distances from 100 meters to 10 km. Designed for industrial fenceline monitoring, aviation safety, and aluminum smelter compliance, these sensors require no field calibration and deliver continuous, reliable atmospheric data.

A Large Aperture Scintillometer (LAS) uses optical scintillation technology to measure path-averaged crosswind velocity and atmospheric turbulence (Cn²) over long distances. An infrared beam is transmitted between a source and receiver unit; fluctuations in the received signal caused by atmospheric refractive index variations are analyzed by DSP algorithms to derive wind and turbulence data without any moving parts.
